The base of Cordes sur ciel is 1.5km by road, and there is an easy (but steep) walk to the top from Maison Felix. There are shops locally and in Cordes. There is an excellent independent supermarket (Prim Frais), very near, between Cordes & Les Cabannes. The nearest breadshop is a couple of minutes walk. There are plenty of shops and places to eat within an easy walk from Maison Felix.

The Midi Pyrenees around Cordes sur Ciel is one of the most beautiful parts of France. Nearby are the Roman vineyards of AOC Gaillac, the imposing pink brick cathedral of Albi, and the museum to its famous son, Toulouse Lautrec, numerous other bastides to see, such as Penne, Castelnau de Montmiral, Bruniquel (with its Offenbach festival), Puycelsi and Najac, or the gorgeous St Antonin Noble Val with its famous Sunday market. Toulouse is about an hour away by car or train (from Cordes Vindrac station) and Figeac is worth a visit in the other direction. There are a plethora of walks directly from Maison Felix, into the countryside, along the river banks, or up into the magnificent fortified medieval town of Cordes sur Ciel. You can use the bicycles to travel further afield, or to visit the Garrisou water park on the outskirts of the village. There are weekly markets in Les Cabannes and Cordes.
